JAPANESE BEAST WARS
Related Items

This page was created to display any items related to the Japanese Beast Wars.  An example of these items would be books, candy/toys, videos, trading cards, etc.  I don't expect to spend too much time and money on this line of toys but wanted to provide you with a sample of what I've acquired.   I know that this page needs to be divided into separate categories due to the many pics, and one of these days it'll happen.  Until then, I apologize for the long download.

Feel free to contact me if you want to relay your opinions, findings, corrections about the Japanese Beast Wars or about my webpage in general.  I always look forward to receiving feedback from other viewers/collectors.

Beast Wars Puzzles

I sort of recall purchasing this Beast Wars II 500 piece puzzle from Shimoda Mall when I was stationed in Japan.  I think it was located in a discount bin when I stumbled across it.

One thing I like about the puzzles in Japan is the fact that several of them are packaged with transparent glue to secure the pieces together.  You apply the glue on top of the puzzle and it seeps through the cracks to seal the pieces.  Right now it's framed and is hanging on my wall :)

I don't recall where or when I purchased this Beast Wars Neo 300 piece puzzle, but it's another item I added to my collection when I was in Japan.

Beast Wars II Magnets

Masashi Kitano hooked me up with another Beast War item which happens to be this magnet set.   This 3 pack has Bighorn, Apache, and Diver in robot mode.  I think there are 3 different packs (totaling 9 magnets) but I'm not too sure.

Just another piece of memorabilia to add to my Beast War collection. Many thanks Masashi!

Beast Wars II Hikuzohkun P.P. Cards - Collection Cards

Masashi comes through again with a pack of trading cards from the Beast Wars II line.  This pack contains 1 "special" card which is shown on the front, and 10 regular cards in separate packets.  I already had 31 in my collection but just added 4 new ones.  It appears that there are 6 "special" cards and at least 36 regular cards in this series.

[19 Jul 03]  Thanks to Richard Cook for providing me with the missing cards that I needed to complete this collection--42 total!

Each card has various anime and CGI character with some descriptions of their role in an episode on the show.  The Beast Wars line also had the same kind of "Collection Card" line.  I own 11 different cards and don't expect to get many others since I haven't seen either packs since their release in 1997-1998.

Beast Wars Collection Cards

I realized that I had a second type of cards that wasn't on my site which are called Beast Wars Collection Cards (1996-1997).  I don't recall where I purchased them but I probably picked them up at Shimoda Mall in Japan.  Each package contains 10 cards with an extra card affixed on the front and each card is placed in an envelope (shown on the right).  I don't know how many cards were released in this line, but one of my cards is number 40.

If there are only 40 cards in this collection, here is a list of cards that I need.  If you have them and are willing to sell them to me, send me an e-mail...thanks!

Needed:  1-5, 7, 9, 11-13, 15-25, 27, 29, 32-33, 35-36 & 38-39.

Transformers Beast Wars (Series-1) Trading Cards

I recently found some Beast Wars (1996-1997) trading cards and just about completed the set with only purchasing 9 sets!

There are 10 cards per pack with each card showing Robot, Beast, Stories, etc., and character specs on the back.  There are 69 total cards in this series which shouldn't be too difficult to complete.

Here is a total list of cards per group:

  • 13 Special (chase)
  • 24 Robot
  • 06 Beast
  • 12 Story
  • 08 Gundan (Army Corps)
  • 05 Extra
  • 01 Checklist

I'm only missing card #56, so if you have an extra and are willing to sell it to me, send me an e-mail please...thanks!

Beast Wars Special CD Single

I found this CD Single in a discount bin for 50Yen.  It has a total of four tracks for your listening pleasure.  The first two are the Opening Theme and Ending Theme to Beast Wars, and the last two are their Karaoke version.  I'll have to do some searching or translating before I come up with their titles.  After listening to this single, I must say that I'm glad I only paid 50Yen for it since it's really terrible.  Maybe the kids liked it at one time, but definitely not worth the original price of ¥1,100.  This CD was produced in 1998 and here's the ISBN: 4-988001-261698.

Beast Wars Metals Promotion Video

This is a 15 minute promotion video which accompanied the CONVOY figure that I purchased at our local HelloMac toy store.

When I first viewed this video I assumed that the Beast Wars computer animated series was created in Japan.  Upon further information from Paul Lorphanpaibul, I was made aware of the fact that the Beast Wars videos in Japan are a season or two behind.  I really didn't know that the animation was created in Canada/U.S. and that it had been "on the streets" for awhile.  This shows you how much I really know about this line of toys.

I'm quite impressed with the animation and wish I could get a couple dubs of the stateside versions so I could follow along in the story.  Maybe someday when I get back to the real world I'll check it out.

Transformers Beast Wars II - TakoTank & Mini Inkard Bathtub Toy

This is a mini TakoTank & Inkard toy that I found at a Sanwado shopping center.  It is a bathtub toy for the kiddies :)   There are 3 "power" discs that allow TakoTank to bob up and down when submerged in water.  This produces a swimming effect especially when his tentacles move.  This would probably entertain the kids for a little while until the power discs have all dissolved.  Mini Inkard is just a clear-blue Scuba...the exact same figure which is part of the Beast Collection Special 10 below.

Transformers Beast Wars BeastCollection Special 10

This is a "Clear Version Special Set" of 10 figures which are approximately 2-2.5" tall.  These solid clear-blue figures were made in China for Takara and released in 1998.  I picked up this set at a toy shop in Lapia Mall which looks like it's seen better days.   Although the packaged has some shelf wear, the contents are quite nice.  There is a photo on the back of the box which shows these figures standing on the Cybertron Base/Case set which I also purchased (below).

Here's a list of figures included in this boxed set displayed on the left (top left-to-right):

  • Scuba
  • Bighorn
  • Tasmaniakid
  • LioConvoy
  • Galvatron
  • Megastorm
  • Apache
  • LioConvoy (Beast Mode)
  • Starscream
  • Galvatron (Beast Mode)

Transformers Beast Wars Cybertron Case/Base

I purchased this toy at Sanwado which had been sitting on the shelves for a very long time.  I figured if I picked up the 10 figures above, I should have a base/case for them too.  This is a Cybertron craft that opens up into a base.

Figures included: 2 character figures, 4 crafts, 3 weapons.  This toy was made in China for Takara in 1998.

Transformers Beast Wars Board Game

Here's yet another miscellaneous item I picked up at a Sanwado shopping center.  This is the Beast Wars Board Game produced in 1998.  Here are the contents of this game:
  • 4 Game Figures; Lio Convoy, Tripredacus, Magnaboss, Scuba
  • 1 Roulette Wheel (Battery Stage)
  • 1 Game Board
  • 18 Cybertron Cards
  • 12 Destron Insectron Pass Cards
  • 12 Stands
  • Angolmore Energy (AE); 64 Chips & 4 Holders

Transformers Beast Wars Great Hero PVC Figures

Here are a pair of PVC figures in the "Great Hero" collection.  I believe there are only two figures which are LioConvoy & Galvatron.  Each figure has some movable parts at the shoulders & waist.  LioConvoy's head is movable as well as Galvatron's legs at the knees (turns left/right).

These figures were made in Korea for Takara and released in 1998.  Lastly, each figure stands approximately 5" tall.

I've included some photos of several Beast Wars books that I acquired over the years which also include their titles and ISBN codes.

Transformers Beast Wars - Miscellaneous Items

The first package on the left is a Beast Wars II coloring/drawing book dated 1998 which has various BW figure outlines.

The second is a BW2 notepad and Angolmore Energy Get Game.  There is a separate booklet which is a game board, a pencil, and the notepad is used for scorekeeping.

The last few items are called Beast Wars Goods Collection.  These little items are found in coin operated prize machines.  These prizes are packaged in an "egg-like" shell.  The prizes I won are Magnet plates (refrigerator magnets) and Mini-notes (notebooks).

Beast Wars Metals Real Figure
Metals Convoy (Mini)

I purchased this mini Convoy figure at Jusco department store in Shimoda City.  I believe it was Spencer Orbell who led me to this find.   Actually, I remember seeing this figure a long time ago but that was before I even started collecting Beast Wars.  Then Spencer sent an e-mail about him and I knew I had search for it.

There isn't much to say about this figure except that the color scheme matches its' original Convoy.  Not much in transformation; fold down the legs, rotate the hips, separate the torso to switch heads, flip arm in opposite direction, and re-attach the backpack as shoulder guards.  I believe this is an "orphan", meaning that no other figures were created in this mini-style which is too bad.  It would've made a nice addition to any collection.

The instructions are printed on the back of the card.   One thing I noticed is that the lower arms are inversed and was purposely done that way for a "better" appearance in the packaging.  The mechanical-looking piece should be at the bottom vice top when he's in Ape mode and I verified this with the real Metals Convoy.  One other disappointment is the lack of his club weapons.

Beast Wars Neo "Shitajiki"
Advertisement Pencil Board

This is a shitajiki or pencil board that is converted into an advertisement board.  I received this from Clay Enniss a long time ago, before I even started collecting Beast Wars.  The reverse side has all of the Versus figures in the Beast Wars Neo line-up.

Beast Wars Real Figure Kit
Prize from "Rock, Paper, Step" Game

This is a game prize that I won when I was playing the "Rock, Paper, Step" (Jan-ken-step)  machine game which is based on the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" game we all played when we were kids.  It's called "Rock, Paper, Step" since every "win" against the machine moves you up a few steps to the top of the score board.

There were a few different variations such as this clear-blue, clear-yellow, and clear-smoke plastic models and a colored version.  I don't remember how many different figures there were, but I was lucky enough to win this Magmatron.  Each package comes with a clear octagonal shaped stand with the figures name on it.  There are connectors which allow you to "lock" these figures together creating a single stand/display.  Not much to this but yet another goody to add to my shelf!

Just added Longrack which I think is much better looking than the clear models.  Now if I can only get my hands on the rest of them...

It took me a little more time to finally win another figure from this game, but I finally did.  Here's yet another colored model named Guildart.  Now if I can only get my hands on a Convoy or Megatron.  Well, I finally won a Big Convoy and a clear-smoke version of Longrack but will only display Big Convoy...so here it is!

Hyper Beast Wars
by Kabaya

Hyper Beast Wars is the name of these toys which include chocolate candy that closely resemble to M&M's.  Kabaya company is well known for producing these toy/candy kits which can be found in any Japanese supermarket.   If you want to know where to find them, just listen for the kids shuffling through the boxes in the isles and you'll know where to go!

This is the first time I've opened up a box and didn't have much to do as far as assembling these toys.  Two of the boxes had trees which held the weapons.  The rest of the figure is ready for play or display.  They are limited in movement but are put together nicely.  There are 3 boxes with different graphics for each of the figures, but I'm only displaying Convoy's box above.

There are many different types of Beast Wars candy/toys with numerous figures.  This line only has 3 figures which is one reason I bought them.  I didn't know what to expect and I was comparing them to the "supas" in the Microman line which are more like models than playable figures.  Nevertheless, a nice little addition to this page.

Beast Change Kit - Vol 2
by
Takara

This set of figures are called Beast Change Kit - Vol 2 which were released in 1998.  Each box contains one figure; 1) Apache & 2) Megastorm.  These kits have a Green & Blue color scheme and can transform from Beast/Vehicle to Robot.  They also came with a cheap sticker sheet which have already began to peel off.  These figures were purchased at Hello Mac in Japan for ¥500 each.

Beast Wars Selection
by Kabaya

This set of candy/toy kits produced by Kabaya was released sometime in 1999.  It's called Beast Wars Selection and there are 5 sets of figures that are based on the Beast Wars Neo line.  Each box is packaged with 2 figures in robot mode and beast mode plus lemon candy.  The size of the figures vary from 1.5-2.5" tall.  Here's a breakdown of the figures per box:

     1.  Longrack (Robot) Vs. Guildart (Beast)
     2.  Guildart (Robot) Vs. Saberback (Beast)
     3.  Saberback (Robot) Vs. Corada (Beast)
     4.  Corada (Robot) Vs. Sling (Beast)

     5Sling (Robot) Vs. Longrack (Beast)

I was only able to get my hands on sets numbered 3, 4, and 5 as shown above.  I don't recall when, where I purchased these figures while stationed in Japan, but thought it was time to add them to my site.  There isn't a price listed on the box but I'm guessing it was only a few hundred yen.

Beast Wars Squirters
by Kabaya

This set of candy/toy kits produced by Kabaya was released sometime in 1999 and called Beast Wars Squirters.  There are 4 figures released with 1 per box (including lemon candy) and are based on the Beast Wars Neo line.  I was able to acquire 3 of them.  These figures are made of rubber and are designed to shoot water through a hole in the center of the figure.  They are also approximately 2.5-3" tall with some paint added to kind of improve the appearance.  Here's a breakdown of the figures in this line: 1) Big Convoy, 2) Longrack, 3) Megatron, and 4) Guildart.  As with the Beast Wars Selection figures, I don't recall when I purchased these figures, where I bought them, or how much each box cost.

Transmetals Dasher!!
by Kabaya

Here are some more Kabaya candy/toys I found recently.  These are called Transmetals Dashers which were released 1999 coinciding with the Beast Wars Metals line.  There are only 4 in this set which are figured as follows:  1) Convoy (Vehicle Mode), 2) Megatron (Jet-Roller Type), 3) Walking Convoy, and 4) Walking Megatron.

These are neat little toys because I like the "wacky walkers" toys and these are just that.  You wind them up and let them go!   Each figure is approximately 3.75" tall and have movable arms.  A neat feature for the second set of Megatron & Convoy is the "roll-stop-spin-roll"!  That's right, this toy has wheels and a mechanism which makes the toy stop, spin, then roll once again.  The photo below shows the "walking" Convoy (far left) and the "jet-roller type" Megatron (far right).  These toys are already built for you.  Just take them out of the bag, wind them up and watch 'em go!  This set also comes with chocolate candy.

Beast Wars DX - Part 3
by Kabaya

This is the Beast Wars DX candy/toys by Kabaya and released in 1998 during the Beast Wars II line.  There are 3 figures in this line and I only found 1 figure shown above which is Magnaboss who stands at 3.75" tall.  The second figure on the box is God Neptune and the last is Tripredacus.  Each figure comes with gum.

This figure happens to have the price tag listed as ¥290 as well as the store name--Circle-K.  It appears that some parts of this figure is similar to a model in that some of the parts were on trees.  I really don't remember, but there are noticeable marks on some of the parts.  The only movable parts on Magnaboss are the arms.

Beast Battle
by Kabaya

These figures are called Beast Battle by Kabaya.  I remember purchasing these figures from a local supermarket in Japan, but I seem to have misplaced the boxes.  The picture of the box was modified to appear as it would unopened.  I found a photo online which a flat file--I just fixed it up in Photo Paint.

There are 8 figures in this line with 2 per box.  The figures are: 1) Stampy & Break, 2) Sling & Deadend, 3) Longrack & Corada, and 4) Saberback & Guildart.  Each figure stands under 2" tall and have that super deformed appearance.  Also, these figures are quite light since they are hallowed out.  I believe each box retailed for ¥200.

Metalcubeast
by Kabaya

This is yet another set of model candy/toy kits produced by Kabaya.  There are 4 models in this set which are: 1) Convoy, 2) Rattle, 3) Cheetus, and 4) SilverBolt.

I think these models nicely done with clear, metallic, and solid color schemes.  This line sort of reminds me of the Henshin Cyborg line with their clear bodies and visible internal/mechanical organs.  Each figure is moveable at their shoulder & leg joints and are accompanied by their weapons.

These kits are easily put together and have sticker sheets as well as lemon candy within each box.  The eyes and mechanical parts are highlighted with the stickers (only 3 stickers per sheet) and as mentioned above, have that Cyborg look.

Metals Hero
by Kabaya

This set of candy/toys is called Metals Hero which was released in 1999 during the Beast Wars Metals line.  There are a total of 7 figures in this set: 1) Convoy, 2) Rhinox, 3) Cheetus, 4) Rattle, 5) AirRazor, 6) SilverBolt, and finally 7) Megatron.

These figures are approximately 3" tall are made of vinyl.  There is no assembly required since they are already put together on a stand.  Just pull it out of a bag and up on a shelf.  The only moveable parts are at the waist & shoulders plus their back attachments.  This set comes with Lemon candy mints.

Beast Wars W Lemon
by Kabaya

I picked up these figures at a flea market in Japan awhile back and finally found a photo of the box to display on this page.  These Beast Wars II figures were released in 1998 which included Lemon candy.  Each box contains two figures; one in Beast mode and the other in Robot mode.  There are a total of 10 figures in this set:

1)  Lio Convoy (Robot) Vs. Galvatron (Beast)
2)  Galvatron (Robot) Vs. Lio Convoy (Beast)
3)  Apache (Robot) Vs. Bighorn (Beast)
4)  Bighorn (Robot) Vs. Megastorm (Vehicle)
5)  Megastorm (Robot) Vs. Apache (Beast)

The only figures I picked up are shown above which are Bighorn (Beast), Lio Convoy (Robot), Apache (Robot) and Galvatron (Beast).  The largest figure in my collection is Lio Convoy who stands at approximately 3 1/4" tall.

Beast Wars Selection Lemon
by Kabaya

I picked up these figures at a flea market a
long with the Beast Wars W Lemon set mentioned above.  These Beast Wars Neo figures were released in 1999 which also included Lemon candy.  It appears that each box contains two figures; one in Beast mode and the other in Robot mode.  There are a total of 10 figures in this set:

1)  Big Convoy (Robot) Vs. Sharp Edge (Beast)
2)  Magmatron (Robot) Vs. Mach Kick (Beast)
3)  Mach Kick (Robot) Vs. Arachadis (Beast)
4)  Arachadis (Robot) Vs. Big Convoy (Beast)
5)  Sharp Edge (Robot) Vs. Magmatron (Magmasaurus?)

The only figures I picked up are shown above which are Big Convoy (Robot & Beast), Arachadis (Robot & Beast) and Magmatron (missing his Red wing attachment).  The largest figure in my collection is Big Convoy who stands at approximately 2 1/2" tall.
